The
Grand Vision
Commissioned
by the Mountain Parks Foundation, the assignment was to design a centennial
book of 54 pages commemorating the 100th year of founding the preserve
of Big Basin Redwoods State Park, California's oldest state park located
in the Santa Cruz Mountains of northern California.
Black and white images in the front history section of the book were
selected from the historic photography collection of A.P. Hill, the
same images used to to help convince the California legislature to create
this park over 100 years ago. Subsequent chapters were produced in color,
utilizing photographs from a large group of photographers that have
preserved this park through their camera lenses.
Two editions were printed: hard bound with gold foil cover and jacket,
as well as soft cover. Additional design and production by Mike Miller/Prism
Photographics.
